Studio / Office Telephone Privacy Adaptor

A simple solution to an age old problem!

Due to the temporary nature of RSL broadcasts and the high cost of installing a second telephone line, many RSL broadcasters are forced to share one telephone line between both the studio and the office. Even if there are two or more telephone lines available the chances are both your main studio and your production studio will share the same line.

This 'line sharing' causes a number of potential problems. The main cause for concern is that somebody in the office (or other studio) will pick up the phone to make a call, just as the presenter in the studio puts his competition caller on the radio! The result is normally the competition winner being drowned out by the frantic pressing of numbers on the other handset. At best it sounds awful, at worse the office staff member inadvertently appears on the radio swearing and shouting that "there's something up with this phone"!

Luckily there is now a solution - the telephone privacy adaptor.

It works just like any regular telephone adaptor except it knows when one extension is in use. When one extension is being used, the other is restricted from listening in, dialing out or being heard by the other! Once the call is finished, either extension can use the phone as usual.

The device also has uses for home studios and podcasters. Never again will your bedroom studio recording be interrupted by somebody using the phone downstairs.
