Pop Shield
This
professional looking microphone pop shield is designed
to remove the explosive 'pop' sound which can so commonly
be heard on many recordings and live performances.
The shield is placed a few centimeters in front of the
microphone and effectively eliminates the explosive rush
of air which is produced on some vocal sounds. The spring
clamp simply clamps onto the microphone stand.

Why
do I need a pop shield?
For the majority of radio and vocal recording
work, the presenter's mouth is usually just a
few inches away from the microphone. This close
proximity makes it easier for explosive bursts
of air to enter the microphone capsule when certain
sounds are spoken.
To illustrate the point, place the back of your
hand a few a few centimeters away from your mouth
and recite the alphabet out loud. You'll notice
that both 'B' and 'P' can clearly be felt on your
hand. It is this rush of air which produces unpleasant
'pops' on recordings and broadcasts.
The pop shield works by breaking up the passage
of air between your mouth and the microphone and,
unlike a foam windshield, does not dull the sound
in any way.
