more about DAD
DAD
stands for Digital Audio Delivery and is fast becoming one of
the most popular digital playout systems for broadcasters in
the UK and the USA. Produced by Enco, the system forms the heart
of many broadcast studios in use today.
Long
gone are record decks, cart machines and CD players in today's
modern radio studio. DAD has the capabilities of recording,
storing and then instantly playing your audio, whether that
be music, pre-recorded links, commercials or jingles. All Radiquip
systems available for hire come with touchscreen monitors making
audio even more accessible to the user.
The
DAD systems available for hire include the following features:
Array
and mini-array screens
Assign your audio to one of several hundred 'hot keys' making
the audio instantly available to the presenter. Simply press
the appropriate button on the 'cart wall' and it plays.

Playback
machines
Any audio recorded on DAD can be built into pre-prepared playlists
and loaded into one of the playback machines. By carefully constructing
playlists you can achieve incredible results with the audio
seamlessly segueing into the next item without presenter interaction.
Create pre-recorded programmes by building playlists which include
songs, pre-recorded links, commercials and jingles - ideal for
overnight programming or music sweep features.
Alternatively, By selecting 'Manual' on the playback machine
the DAD system will stop after every item in the playlist and
wait for presenter interaction. Ideal for live shows where the
presenter needs complete control over the flow of music.

Library
Features
The library screen allows you to accurately search for audio
recorded on the system. Then using the playlist creation or
modify screens you can quickly create or modify playlists 'on
the fly'.

Always
visible assignable 'hotkeys' keep important
items just a touch away
Editing
DAD has the capability of basic editing functions such as cut,
copy and paste. Through the editing screen you can also make
changes to segue points, talktime markers (which give the presenter
an indication of intro length) and fade points on audio already
on the system.
Commands
With a little knowledge of DCL (Dad Command Language) the user
can create command cuts which can be used to control the flow
of automation and perform other automated tasks. They work similar
to how a 'macro' would in some popular software packages.
Playlists can be forced to start, stop or jump forward at predetermined
times. By using commands you can force DAD to run pre-programmed
sequences; for example, to run a series of commercials up to
the news.
With every hire, Radiquip takes time to set up some of the most
popular command cuts. That way you won't need to spend hours
getting to grips with some of the more complicated features
of DAD.
Support
All of our Radiquip DAD workstations are provided with a comprehensive
manual along with step by step instructions on how to perform
basic tasks on the system.
When
you take delivery of the equipment we offer a brief ½
hour overview of how the equipment works. In addition to this
more comprehensive training is available. We offer a series
of three workshops at a set cost which are held at your studio
location. For more details of the training available please
go to the 'Training Centre' area of our website.
Radiquip
also has a range of technical support options available to our
customers. All hired Enco DAD systems are supplied with dial-in
facilities which allow our support staff to assist customers
if required.
