PC
based Broadcast Logging System
DESCRIPTION
In order to satisfy Ofcom guidelines, all material broadcast
on radio stations (including RSL's) must be recorded and
stored for 42 days. Traditionally this was achieved using
VHS video cassettes however the system proved to be unreliable,
difficult to use and relied on station staff remembering
to change tapes and to stop and start recording at set
times.
Nowadays, radio stations use dedicated computer software
to do the same job. It's reliable and, once started, will
continue to run in the background for days on end, faithfully
recording station output on to the computer's hard drive
in easy to manage 15 minute segments.
Radiquip logging systems are designed to be stand alone
units and are provided with an integrated tuner in order
to directly record all broadcast audio. As the PC records,
it automatically labels each recorded segment with a time
and date stamp making it easy to listen back to any recorded
audio without stopping the recording process. Our systems
are provided with ample capacity to store audio well over
700 hours of audio meaning that your entire 28 day RSL
broadcast can be fully archived in one place in order
to satisfy Ofcom regulations.
At the end of the hire period, Radiquip will store the
audio on your behalf for the statutory 42 day period.
If you wish, you can purchase the archive disk containing
the audio files for a nominal fee or we can arrange for
files to be transferred to your own media for a small
charge.

QUESTIONS
ABOUT THE ENCO DAD PLAYOUT SYSTEM
|
|
Q:
Is the system reliable?
A: Yes. In the 3 years we have been using
this system, our clients have never reported problems
with the system. Once the PC is booted, the system
automatically starts recording.
Q: Can we listen back to recordings?
A: Audio is recorded in 15 minute batches.
As soon as the current segment is recorded it becomes
instantly available for playback. The Logging system
is fitted with a CDR drive and CD burning software.
The PC can also be networked to allow access to
audio files from other PC's.
Q: Are the recordings of good quality?
A: The system is set up to purposely record
at low to medium quality in order to preserve hard
drive space. This is necessary for 28 day broadcasts.
If you are planning a short RSL broadcast however
we can adjust the sample rate in order provide higher
quality recordings if you so wish.
